Cookie policy

This cookie policy regulates how your personal data are processed when you visit our website (farys.be). On your first visit to our website, we will assess your preferences to ensure that we place cookies on your device only with your permission or for legitimate reasons. This is explained in greater detail under Point 2.

Farys ov, of registered address Stropstraat 1, 9000 Ghent, Belgium, registered with the KBO (Central Belgian Database for Companies) under number 0200.068.636 (“Farys”, “we”, “our”), acts as the responsible party in the context of this process.

Farys operates in accordance with the provisions of Belgian and European regulations with respect to data protection, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Farys considers the protection of privacy extremely important and attaches great value to the proper protection of your personal data.

By means of this cookie policy, Farys would like to provide you – as visitor to and user of our website – with information and control as far as possible over the collection, processing and use of your personal data. Please read this cookie policy through carefully, and read it together with our privacy policy. Not only your rights are set out below, but also the way in which you can exercise those rights.

Farys has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), to whom you can always apply for questions regarding your privacy and the processing of your personal data. The DPO can be reached at the following email address: dpo@farys.be.

What are the personal data that are processed and for what purposes?

To clarify this in full, we will first explain in general what cookies are and what they do (a). We will then run through the cookies, subdivided into categories in our cookie list (b). We will strive in this way to be as transparent as possible.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small and simple text files that are saved in the browser or on the hard drive of your computer(s) or mobile device(s) when you visit a website. Then you can, for example, be identified as a visitor to our website(s) during a subsequent visit, so that we will be better able to adjust our website(s) to your wishes, preferences and convenience.

Cookies do not execute any actions on your computer(s) or mobile device(s), they merely provide your browser with extra information. So, our functional cookies operate as reminders or prompts for website(s). They are able to recall user settings and other data (choice of language, login data etc.), but do not save names, addresses, ages or other personal data (apart from your IP address in certain cases).

Have you surfed to our website? Then our website, on condition you give permission, is able to place cookies automatically on the hard drive of your computer(s) or mobile device(s). If you do not give your permission, we will only place cookies that are strictly necessary. These essential cookies are there to allow the website to function properly. The cookies that we request your permission for are there to improve your user experience on the website and/or to display targeted adverts, and this only to attune the website better to your needs, wishes and preferences.

Apart from cookies, there are also other technologies included in this policy. This concerns for example JavaScripts, web beacons, SDKs and pixels. These are technologies that along with cookies allow a system to gather information, to save it in small and simple text files, and then to send it. Cookies and other technologies are used on virtually all existing websites and apps.

Our cookie list

This cookie list subdivides the cookies into different categories according to origin, functionality and lifetime. We make use of a subdivision by category of cookies, i.e. essential cookies, statistical cookies, functional cookies and marketing cookies.

On our cookie list we also include at the same time the parties that are linked to the cookie and so receive data from you. In this way, it is immediately clear whether the cookie has been placed by us (first party or internal cookies) or by an external or third party. Third party cookies are cookies from a domain other than the website that you are on – they are used for marketing or advertising purposes.

We cannot influence how the recipients process the information from these cookies. For further information, we refer you to the privacy statements of these parties. However, we have no influence on their privacy statement, or on the content of the cookies of these parties.

  • Essential cookies (always active)

Essential cookies are required to allow our website to function properly and are always active. No permission is needed for this type of cookie. They are there for example to navigate through the pages, to record the privacy settings or to screen off access to the secure sections of our website. We never make use of the data that we collect with them for other purposes, and we do not pass them on to third parties.

This cookie is set by the cookie compliance solution from OneTrust. It stores information about the categories of cookies the site uses and whether visitors have given or withdrawn consent for the use of each category. This enables site owners to prevent cookies in each category from being set in the users browser, when consent is not given. The cookie has a normal lifespan of one year, so that returning visitors to the site will have their preferences remembered. It contains no information that can identify the site visitor.

  • Statistical cookies

We would like to know how many visitors we receive to our website and the pages that these visitors find the most interesting. We learn a great deal from this and are able to improve our website and services based on it. Statistical cookies are really important for us and in fact for you too as visitor. Nevertheless, we never place statistical cookies without your permission and never use the data that we collect for other purposes, and certainly do not pass the information on to third parties.

Use of Google Analytics

Our website makes use of Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google Inc. Before a Google cookie is placed on your device, you will always be asked for permission. You will also find the cookies from Google on our cookie list. Google saves the data gathered by the cookies on its servers. In the settings, we have selected the option ‘Europe West’, so that the data should remain within the EEA, but as this is a US player, data may go outside the EEA.
