Does tap water taste good?

The good reputation of tap water is often overshadowed by myths and misconceptions about its taste. Although taste is personal, some people find tap water less pleasant.

Water is a product of nature. Its composition, and therefore its taste, varies depending on the region. Just as with bottled water, there are slight differences in taste.

Disinfection of the tap water network is essential to prevent bacterial contamination during transport. We use chlorine for this. 1 litre of tap water may contain 0.25 mg of chlorine. Because chlorine has a strong smell, people sometimes think there is too much chlorine in the water. This is not the case: chlorine levels are strictly controlled and are well below the legal limit. If you still notice a chlorine smell, let your carafe stand for a few minutes after filling – the chlorine will evaporate.

Tip: You could also add a slice of lemon to the water. This adds a fresh touch.
