Corporate social responsibility

We apply corporate social responsibility in every aspect of our business: in water, sanitation, sport and facilities management, but also in support services.

Sustainable Business Charter

On 16 June 2026, we received recognition for our efforts for the 15th consecutive year through Voka’s Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship. This charter promotes the continuous improvement of organisational performance, with a focus on environmental, social and economic themes.

SDG Champion UNITAR

Since 2017, the Voka Sustainable Business Charter has focused on the 17 United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs)

In recent years, our company has managed to achieve at least one action within each development goal. Which is why since 25 October 2022, we have been certified as an SDG Champion. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work of many committed colleagues!

Climate Action Plan

To firmly embed our sustainability objectives within our organisation, we have developed a Climate Action Plan. This plan brings together our efforts on climate, energy and resource management, while also taking into account social and economic impacts.

Here’s how we do it

We mobilize our employees to do their part, integrate new technologies where we can, and look in a focused way for opportunities big and small to make a difference. Some examples:

  • Projects focused on climate-resilient drinking water supply, including water production centres in Ostend and Nieuwpoort (Ganzepoot), and a water reuse facility in Aalst that upgrades treated water to drinking water quality.
  • Electrification of the company and pool vehicle fleet.
  • Energy audits of our facilities and sports infrastructure.
  • Integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into standard procurement specifications.
  • Circular economy initiatives, including the collection of used clothing and its sustainable processing into new products and raw materials.
  • Commitment to fair trade through FairTrade@Work (coffee, cocoa, sugar, tea and speculoos biscuits) and the Fair Trade Charter, which we have upheld since 2018.
  • Digital monitoring and data collection of water and energy consumption.
  • Electronic invoicing for customers.
