Beware of email invoices with an altered account number

21/05/2026

Over the past few weeks, Farys has received reports from customers stating that invoices sent by email had been tampered with.

Further investigation shows that some email accounts were compromised following password leaks. In some cases, invoices were intercepted and altered, for example by changing the bank account number.

What can you do?

We ask you to be extra vigilant and to take the following measures:

Always check your invoices

Please check the amount and bank account number carefully. The correct bank account number of Farys is: BE61 0910 1709 0217.

Compare with MyFarys

Consult your invoices via our online customer portal MyFarys to ensure that the details are correct.

Be careful when making payments

Banks check that the beneficiary’s name matches the account number. Are you getting a message saying the name does not match the account? Stop the payment immediately and get in touch.

Secure your email account

Change your password and use a strong password of at least 12 characters. Do you use the same password elsewhere? Change it there as well.

Consider switching to a more secure email provider

Email services that support multi-factor authentication (such as Gmail, Outlook or Proton Mail) offer better protection.

Choose direct debit

With direct debit, you pay securely and automatically on the due date.
